It was love at first sight for Andrea and Marty McGee when they met Minnie at the Great Plains SPCA’s Pet Adoption Center in Merriam. They are now living as a “fur-ever” family and having a wonderful summer together.

Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Warner Johnson of Our Town are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Adalaide Emma Johnson, to Robert Patterson Sutherland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John William Sutherland II of Andover, Kansas. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stewart McKie of Prairie Village and the late Mr. and Mrs. Donovan Warner Johnson. Ada is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School.

Jessica Michelle Whitworth and Jonathan Mayer Stone were married on May 24th at the Historic Firestone Building. The bride is the daughter of Dawn Whitworth of Edison, New Jersey. Her groom is the son of Kathy Krigel Stone of Fairway and Douglas A. Stone of Mission Hills. Jonathan is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tivol of Our Town, the late Herbert M. Krigel and the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Stone.

Slammin’ & Jammin’ for Genesis

Game, Set, Match!
Heather and Jean-Paul Wong were chairmen of the sixth annual Slammin’ & Jammin’ for Genesis at Carriage Club. Guests enjoyed a cocktail party, dinner and auctions on Friday night, followed by Kansas City’s Premier Pro Tennis Tournament on Saturday. Proceeds support The Genesis School, a charter school in the urban core that serves high-risk youth and is well known for its inner-city tennis program.
