Engagement 
Debbie Sosland-Edelman and Mr. Alan Seth Edelman of Leawood are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Kate Edelman, to Ari Joshua Fine, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fine of Saratoga, California. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil N. Sosland of Our Town, Dr. and Mrs. William Edelman of Overland Park and the late Doris T. Edelman. Katja is a graduate of the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy.

Light of Hope

Jackson County CASA
April 16th was the date for Jackson County CASA’s Light of Hope breakfast. Cathi and David Brain were the honorary chairmen. More than 1,100 guests attended the event that raised funds to train and support more volunteers to serve abused and neglected children under court protection. John Holt served as the emcee.

Margarita Ball

Hope House
Maria and Danny Pfeifer served as chairmen of the Margarita Ball on April 24th at Club 1000. Proceeds support Hope House, which provides a safety net for people traumatized by domestic violence every year.

Outpace Poverty

Caring For Others 
Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph’s Outpace Poverty will be held on June 20th.  The 5K Walk/Run starts on the north lawn of The National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial. Jean and Jeff Akerly are chairmen of the event that supports Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph’s mission to prevent and reduce poverty in Kansas City and Northwest Missouri.

Hats Off to Mothers

Tea Time
April 22nd was the date for an Honoree Tea given by Hats Off to Mothers at Webster House. Guests came dressed to the nines with hats, white gloves and smiles and enjoyed the 1960s, retro-themed Tea, complete with scones and delicious lemon curd. Hats Off to Mothers was held on May 14th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Lynne Weilert served as the chairman of the event that supports Open Options UCP.
