Name Dropping
Henry Wash started off in life with the odds against him. Malnourished and abandoned as an infant, he lived in a foster home and was finally adopted at age seven. Henry also had difficulties in school until a man named Thurman Mitchell mentored him, giving him tools for academic success. After Thurman died, Henry felt at a loss. Said Henry: “Thurman had given me so much, and he didn’t get to see me do much with it. I didn’t want to make that mistake again.

Helping Hands
Heart to Heart International’s Compassion Gala will be held on May 9th event at The Gallery Event Space. Carla Duryee is the chairman, and Bob Regnier is serving as the honorary chairman of the event that features cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, and great entertainment. Proceeds support Heart to Heart International’s mission to improve global health with initiatives that connect people and resources to a world in need.

10th annual Girls’ Night In

Fun, Food And Friendship
Courtney Earnest was the honorary chairman, and Melissa Earnest, Joanna Glaze and Pam Thompson were the host co-chairmen of the 10th annual Girls’ Night In. The February 26th event was held at The Gallery Event Space. Proceeds support the Adelaide C. Ward Women’s Heart Health Center at The University of Kansas Hospital and Turning Point: The Center for Hope and Healing.

Kathryn Eleanor Stinson and Matthew Ray Patrick were married on October 18th at St. Mary’s the Annunciation Catholic Church in Charleston, South Carolina. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Groves of Our Town and Dr. and Mrs. Wade Stinson of Gainesville, Florida. Her groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Patrick of Pelzer, South Carolina. The evening prior, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Old Post House in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
