Ozanam’s Hollywood Holiday Gala

In The Spotlight 
Ozanam’s Hollywood Holiday Gala began 31 years ago as a small movie premier and has grown to host more than 800 guests. This year, the Gala will be held on December 4th at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. Mary and Tom Bloch are the honorary chairmen, and Carole and Bill Cobb will serve as chairmen. Larry Moore is the emcee. Guests will enjoy cocktails, dinner, a special performance by the Ozanam children, and a live auction.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Short!

Nuptial
Emily Rhoades Perry and Lucas Charles Short were married on August 23rd at Village Presbyterian Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Melville Wilson Perry III of Prairie Village. Her groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Charles Short of Hamilton, Kansas. The evening prior, a rehearsal dinner was held at Boulevard Brewery. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a beautiful reception at Mission Hills Country Club. Megan Dixon served as the matron of honor.

National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial
September 27th was the date for a special event hosted by Mary Beth and Tom Butch at their beautiful home in Loch Lloyd in support of the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial in conjunction with the Centennial of the Great War. Tom serves as chairman of the board of trustees.

A Farm to Table Dinner

Under a Harvest Moon
Powell Gardens’ sixth annual Under a Harvest Moon – A Farm to Table Dinner was held on September 21st. Chef Linda Duerr, The River Club; and her husband, Leon Bahlmann, executive chef at Claridge Court; created a festive meal full of fall produce and local fare. Diane and Ford Brent were the honorary chairmen, and Sheldon Andrew served as the chairman. Proceeds support youth education programs at Powell Gardens.

The Plains Indians: Artists of Earth and Sky

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
The Plains Indians: Artists of Earth and Sky exhibit recently opened at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Special celebrations were held at the Museum from September 16th through the 18th. The exhibition will be on display through January 11th. The show opened at musée du quai Branly in Paris in April of 2014 and will move to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City in March of 2015.
