Annual Dinner
The Center for Practical Bioethics’ Annual Dinner, “Patients as Teachers,” was held on April 24th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Rosemary Flanigan and Dr. Andrea Chatburn served as the honorary co-chairmen of the 30th annual event. Peggy Battin was the featured speaker and Irv Hockaday and Dr. Richard Payne were guest speakers. Jan Kreamer and Steve Roling received the 2014 Vision to Action Award.

Crittenton Children’s Center

Toast For The Children 
Crittenton Children’s Center’s 11th annual Toast For The Children will be held on October 9th at Starlight Theatre. Ellen Hockaday will be honored for her service to Crittenton and advocacy for children. Guests will enjoy a wine tasting, hearty hors d’oeuvres and silent and live auctions. Proceeds from the event support children who are dealing with the effects of trauma associated with abuse, neglect and mental illness.

Congratulations, Molly & Bobby!

Dr. and Mrs. Joseph Ralph Barnthouse of Leawood are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Molly Kathleen Barnthouse, to Robert James Anderson, the son of Reverend and Mrs. James Aden Anderson of Deephaven, Minnesota. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mrs. Thomas Auten of Paola, Kansas, and the late Mr. Auten and Mrs. James Barnthouse of Winfield, Kansas, and the late Mr. Barnthouse. Molly is a graduate of Notre Dame de Sion High School.

2014 Chefs Classic

June 29th was the date for Harvesters’ 2014 Chefs Classic at The American Restaurant. Visiting chefs and local chefs prepared a delicious multi-course meal for guests. Kent Sunderland was the honorary chairman, and The American Restaurant’s Michael Corvino served as the host chef of the event that raised funds to enable Harvesters to provide 200,000 meals for those in need.

Dream Gala

May 10th was the date for the JDRF Dream Gala. Guests enjoyed cocktails, a delicious dinner, silent and live auctions, Fund A Cure, and dancing to the tunes of Atlantic Express at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.
