41st Annual Sports Awards Banquet

Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation
Clark Hunt, Matt Besler, Shannon Vreeland, Adam Dorrel, and the Shawnee Mission West Football Community were recognized for their commitment and achievement in Our Town’s sports at the Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation’s 41st Annual Sports Awards Banquet. Denny Scott served as the chairman of the event that was held on April 11th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown.

The Linda Hall Library

Connecting the World
The Linda Hall Library has launched a year-long Panama Canal Centennial Celebration. On April 8th, the Library celebrated the opening of The Land Divided, The World United: Building the Panama Canal exhibit. A working model of a canal lock, created in partnership with graduate students at the UMKC School of Computing and Engineering, was displayed as part of the opening on the north lawn of the Linda Hall Library.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Langdon!

Nuptial
Laura Elizabeth Beachy and Jesse Langdon were married on October 5th at Village Presbyterian Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Beachy of Prairie Village. Her groom is the son of Dorothy Langdon of Parkville, Missouri and the late Mr. Emmett Langdon. The evening prior, Dottie Langdon hosted a rehearsal dinner at Piropos. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a lovely reception at The Kansas City Country Club.

Morgan Peterson

Morgan Peterson, who just graduated from The Pembroke Hill School this spring, was chosen to be on the Southern Methodist University Pom Squad. The Squad will perform at all the football and basketball games. Congrats, Morgan!

Gary Davis

Gary Davis is a member of the board of trustees at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. He has been a dedicated volunteer committed to making Catholic education affordable for families in Johnson County. Gary and his wife, Jackie, served as the chairmen of Extravaganza in 2012 and 2013. Jackie and Gary are the parents of Rae Chelle, ’03; Jerod, ’08; Austin, ’14; and Bryce, ’17.
