The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art
January 18th was the date for the Young Friends of Art’s Party Arty: Mirage at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Laura Allinder, Andrea Ganier, Katherine Myers, and Leah Vomhof served as the co-chairmen. This year’s theme celebrated Echoes: Islamic Art and Contemporary Artists on display now at The Nelson-Atkins, as well as the upcoming exhibition, Roads of Arabia: Archaeology and History of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, arriving in Town in April.

St. Teresa’s Academy

Lucky Stars
St. Teresa’s Academy’s Auction, “You Are A Shining Star,” was held on November 23rd. Lynn and Jay Reardon, Lena and Joe Runyan and Amy and Jim Sullivan were the co-chairmen, and Larry Moore and Mark Fitzpatrick served as the emcees. More than 500 guests enjoyed a delicious gourmet dinner from Garozzo’s Ristorante and silent and live auctions.

Engagement
Mr. and Mrs. Melville Wilson Perry III of Prairie Village are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Rhoades Perry, to Lucas Charles Short, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Charles Short of Hamilton, Kansas. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School. Emily earned a bachelor of science degree in social work from Miami University, and a juris doctorate from The University of Kansas School of Law.

Happy Birthday, Sophie!

Fun at One!
Sophie Uhlmann Blazar was born last year on Christmas Eve to Lauren and Aaron Blazar. She celebrated her first birthday recently with family, friends and cupcakes. Sophie loves cruising in her car, petting her dog Charlie, blowing kisses, and eating rice cakes and green beans. She is frightened by large stuffed animals, shoes, grass, and babysitters.

World AIDS Day 2013

Helping Hands
The AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City recognized Worlds AIDS Day 2013 with several special events. On November 13th, patrons enjoyed a spirited evening at the beautiful home of Dan Nilsen. The Community Luncheon was held on November 25th and featured a panel of local HIV/AIDS experts and advocates, emceed by Phil Witt. On December 1st, the World AIDS Day Reception and the Millenial League’s annual Code Red Party were both held at Californos in Westport.
