Shining Star
St. Teresa’s Academy Auction, “You’re a Shining Star,”  will swing into town on November 23rd. Alumnae and friends enjoyed recent events at the beautiful homes of Julie and John Strickland and Julie and Steve Zanone to gather gifts for the 2013 Auction. Lynn and Jay Reardon, Lena and Joe Runyan and Amy and Jim Sullivan are serving as the co-chairmen.

Walk With Us

To Cure Lupus
Eddie Kennison, one of Our Town’s most beloved former Kansas City Chiefs, is leading the way to raise funds to battle lupus at the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus on November 2nd at the CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Proceeds from the event will raise funds to find a cure for lupus, an autoimmune disease that affects 1.5 million people, including his wife Shimika. Eddie Kennison and Erik Gaucher are serving as co-chairmen.

CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties

Champions for Children

The Hops & Barley Ball, a benefit for CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties, was held on September 27th. Guests enjoyed a creative menu of comfort foods, the Dark Horse Distillery’s signature liquors, dancing, and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event will help train volunteers to advocate for the abused and neglected children served by CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers.

Congratulations Mollie and Brian!

Mr. and Mrs. Don Christopher Black of Prairie Village are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary “Mollie” Newman Black, to Brian Joseph Bechtold, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bechtold of Springfield, Missouri. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Angus McCallum and the late Mr. and Mrs. Don A. Black. Mollie is a graduate of Accelerated Schools of Overland Park.

New Belgium Beer Tasting

Pawsitively Delicious 
On September 12th, both people and pets had a tail waggin’ good time at the New Belgium Beer Tasting at Rimann Liquors. Proceeds benefited Wayside Waifs, Our Town’s largest and most comprehensive no-kill pet adoption campus.
