Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City

Girl Power
On December 6th, the Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City will host the 21st Annual Luncheon at the Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center. America Ferrera, who plays Betty Suarez on ABC’s Ugly Betty, will be the featured speaker. America is a passionate advocate for women and girls, devoting her time to Save the Children, Night Light and working on the documentary Half the Sky.

Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas

Helping Others
September 24th was the date for The Gathering, a new event launched by Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. More than 100 guests attended, and Lon Lane and Stewart Lane, both with Lon Lane’s Inspired Occasions; demonstrated a variety of unique techniques for preserving and pickling. A new book, Serving Kansas City…New Roots, was released in conjunction with the event, and more than $10,000 was raised for the featured program, New Roots for Refugees.

William Sosna

Spotlight on Centurions 
William Sosna is a staff scientist at MRIGlobal. Bill serves in the medical countermeasures division and has worked overseas on a classified program to combat the War on Terror. Bill is a member of the Centurions, Class of 2014. He serves  as co-chairman of the trip committee, where is he responsible for logistics, entertainment and programming for this year’s Benchmarking Trip to Philadelphia.

Brilliant Jewell

Opening Convocation Ceremony
On September 6th, William Jewell College celebrated the beginning of its academic year with an Opening Convocation Ceremony on the campus quad. Jill and Marshall Dean, Jr. and Jean and Don Wagner were awarded the William F. Yates Medallion for Distinguished Service. The event concluded with the dedication of the Pryor Learning Commons, a $15 million collaborative learning center that opened for students in August.

KC Dance Day

Dance Fever
On August 24th, the Kansas City Ballet presented its third annual KC Dance Day at the Todd Bolender Center. The day featured performances, classes, giveaways, and food trucks.
