Spotlight on Centurions – Jessica Nelson

Jessica Nelson is a member of Centurions, class of 2018. She is a Kansas City native, who graduated from The University of Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. Jessica careers as managing director at TeamKC: Life+Talent at the Kansas City Area Development Council. Right now, Jessica is counting down the days until her wedding to Eric Palm. (They’re getting married on September 3rd.

Spotlight on Centurions – Amanda Middaugh

Amanda Middaugh is manager of corporate and special events fundraising at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. Her responsibilities include leading the fundraising and event planning efforts for KCRep’s annual gala, A Fearless Fête. Amanda graduated from Drury University with degrees in art history and fine arts. She is a member of the Centurions, class of 2018. This past year, Amanda served on the Legacy Project committee for Turn the Page KC and the Poverty Task Force.

Congratulations, Sarah & Bernard!

Sarah Ellen Smart and Bernard Lee Parham were united in matrimony on April 22nd in Kirk Hall at the Kansas City Public Library. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Love of Leawood and Mr. Christopher Smart of Prairie Village. Sarah is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Pachter of Overland Park, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Wang of Prairie Village and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Smart. Her groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Bernard Parham of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

CASA SuperHero 5K

Corporate Woods was the setting for the fourth annual CASA SuperHero 5K benefiting CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties and Jackson County CASA was held on June 25th. Creative costumes were everywhere – and, for the first time, dogs were allowed at the event.

Name Dropping – Symphony Ball “An Evening in Vienna”

Anne and Howard Elsberry will serve as honorary chairmen of the Symphony Ball, which will be held on September 9th. Both the Elsberrys grew up in Moberly, Missouri. They are graduates of Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville. After graduation, Howard pursued a career in retailing for a few years prior to joining the family business, Westlake Hardware.
