Cheers to Volunteers! – HappyBottoms

At HappyBottoms, a committee of Junior League volunteers counts, wraps and fills diaper orders, which run more than 130,000 diapers per month. They spend time individually creating special marketing pieces such as handouts for the clients and identifying the locations of diaper programs. During fundraising events, they have been invaluable, selling raffle tickets, arranging silent auction items and making sure that the guests are having a great time.

Spotlight on Centurions – Jennifer Berhorst

Jennifer Berhorst moved to Kansas City in 2006 to attend law school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She is an attorney at Bryan Cave and focuses her practice on business litigation and employment litigation. Jennifer is a member of Centurions, class of 2017, and serves on the projects committee. She enjoys playing the piano and spending time with her children at the Kansas City Zoo.

Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Spitsnogle!

Frances Read Clay and Andrew Iain Spitsnogle were married on April 2nd at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Nicholas Clay of Leawood. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hagaman Benners of Dallas, Texas, the late Mr. Daniel John Shea and the late Mr. and Mrs. George Harry Clay. Her groom is the son of Jill Wylie Paton of Prairie Village and Mr. Steven Walter Spitsnogle of Overland Park. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs.

Community LINC – UMB Big Bash

Mariner Kemper and Mike Hagedorn served as the honorary co-chairmen of the sixth annual UMB Big Bash at The Midland Theatre. The June 23rd event featured legendary 1980s rockers Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo. The UMB Big Bash Foundation donated $25,000 to Community LINC. Community LINC’s mission is to end homelessness, impact poverty and remove barriers to self-sufficiency for families.

Name Dropping – Symphony Ball 2016

The Symphony League’s Symphony Ball is fast approaching and promises to be the premier kick-off event of the fall season. Christine and Ford Maurer will serve as the honorary chairmen, to be held on September 10th in the Grand Ballroom of the Kansas City Convention Center. Barbara Storm is serving as the chairman.
Christine is from Kirkwood, Missouri, which is a suburb of St. Louis. Ford is originally from Our Town.
