Mrs. Richard W. Miller of Our Town is pleased to announce the engagement of her daughter, Michelle Patrice Miller, to Michael Richard Van Epp, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel C. Van Epp of Las Vegas, Nevada. The bride-to-be is also the daughter of the late Mr. Miller. Michelle is a graduate of The Pembroke Hill School. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in theatre, theology and philosophy from Boston College. Michelle is a BOTAR, class of 1998.

Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Robert Harlan of Mission Hills are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Haley Elizabeth Harlan, to Gerald Joseph Mancuso, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Michael Mancuso of Our Town. The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. V. W. Latimer and Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Harlan. Haley is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School.

2016 Ability Luncheon

May 3rd was the date for the 2016 Ability Luncheon at the Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center. Sarah Pence-Bloss and George Guastello served as co-chairman. Featured Speaker Jeff Bauman, Boston Marathon bombing survivor; talked about his journey of perseverance, collaboration with therapists and his support network. Proceeds supported the Children’s Therapeutic Learning Center and Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City.

Cheers to Volunteers! – Al Risden

Al Risden has been a motivating force for Sprint’s Give Lunch initiative since it began in 2007 to donate food and pack sack lunches for hungry children and families. Al has had a perfect attendance record for all 96 Give Lunch packing sessions. He is an Ambassador for Harvesters and was named Harvesters’ Volunteer of the Year in 2013.
