The Family Conservancy – Brew for Books

Boulevard Brewing Company was the setting for The Family Conservancy’s third annual Brew for Books on April 14th. More than 250 guests donated more than 725 books for children from birth through age five, who are living in poverty. Ryan Triggs was the featured entertainer.

 Guests enjoyed the musical stylings of Ryan Triggs.

Spotlight on Centurions – Jeff Blaesing

Jeff Blaesing graduated from the University of Nebraska where he played baseball and received his executive master of business administration degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He is a member of Centurions, class of 2016, and has been involved with the Legacy Project. He and his wife, Becci, have two children, Katelynn and Jackson. Jeff spends his spare time coaching his children’s sports teams.

Women’s Employment Network – Annual Luncheon: Celebrating 30 Years

Barbara P. Allen and Deborah Allen were the honorary co-chairmen, and Debby Ballard and Cora Storbeck served as the co-chairmen of The Women’s Employment Network’s Annual Luncheon: Celebrating 30 Years at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. More than 1,000 guests celebrated three decades of WEN at the April 6th event. Lynnette Williams, WEN; was honored with the 2016 Beth K. Smith Award.

Jackson County CASA – Light of Hope Breakfast

Jackson County CASA held its 16th annual Light of Hope Breakfast on April 14th at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center. The featured speaker was Nicole Ross, who spoke about the adversity she faced as an older foster youth who aged out of the system. Carol and John Yorke received the Light of Hope Award, and Sam Mehaffie was given the Teresa Rabideau Award for Volunteer Excellence. Melissa Wood served as the honorary chairman.

Child Abuse Prevention Association – Blue Ribbon Burgers & Brews

More than 225 guests enjoyed Blue Ribbon Burgers & Brews, a benefit for the Child Abuse Prevention Association; on April 15th at Hendrick Lexus Kansas City. Partygoers enjoyed delicious fare, a signature raffle and unique tastings from some of the top breweries in the region, including KC Bier Company and Tallgrass Brewing Company.
