September 30th is the date for Prelude, a benefit for the Harriman-Jewell Series. Maureen and Richard Durwood are the honorary chairmen, and Pati Chasnoff, Merry Prostic and Susan Spaulding are serving as the co-chairmen. The event will be held at Indian Hills Country Club and will feature special guest artist, baritone Daniel Belcher.
September 22nd is the date for Cultivate Kansas City’s second annual Dig In, KC! at the City Market. Tiffany Lynch and Allison Harding are the co-chairmen. Chef Michael Foust, The Farmhouse; Chef Renee Kelly, Harvest; and Chef Charles D’Ablaing, Hotel Raphael; will prepare 600 pounds of fresh vegetables all grown by local farmers. The dinner celebrates the work Cultivate Kansas City does to promote food, farms and community.
Under a Harvest Moon
September 22nd is the date for the fifth annual Under a Harvest Moon at Powell Gardens. Guests will be treated to a delicious multi-course meal prepared by Chef Alex Pope, Local Pig; and wine pairings on the terrace of the Missouri Barn. Proceeds from the event benefit children’s educational programs at the Gardens. Lory and Kevin Childress are the chairmen.
All That Jazzoo
Plans are underway for Kids’ Jazzoo, which will take place on August 23rd at the Kansas City Zoo. Children up to 12 years old and their parents can get the inside scoop on animals, groove to kid-friendly music and enjoy face painting and fun crafts. Jen Johnson will serve as the chairman.
The legendary Piazza San Marco in Venice awaits at the Symphony Ball “Concerto a Venezia,” presented by the Symphony League, which will take place on September 7th at Union Station Kansas City. Marny and John Sherman will serve as the honorary chairman, and Ursula Terrasi is the chairman.
