Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City
May 12th was the date for a reception to celebrate the release of the 2014 edition of the Women’s Foundation of Greater Kansas City’s A Celebration of Women. The event was held on the top floor of Polsinelli’s new Plaza Vista. The Karen Herman Advocate for Women and Girls Award was presented to Martha Humphreys and the late Julie M. Geis.

Critique Luncheon
Indian Hills Country Club was the setting for Rockhurst University Library Guild’s Critique Luncheon on April 24th. Kathy Bastasch and Jeanine Cindrich served as the co-chairmen of the event that was a benefit for the Greenlease Library.

Rock Chalk Ball

Jayhawks and Juleps
Laura and Todd Sutherland were the chairmen, and Steve Doocy, a 1979 KU graduate and host of Fox and Friends, served as the emcee of the 19th annual Rock Chalk Ball,¬† “Jayhawks and Juleps.” The Derby-style event was held by the KU Alumni Association and its Kansas City Chapter at the Overland Park Convention Center. Proceeds support the outreach programs of the Alumni Association.

Back To The Future

Fabulous Phoenix
Julie and Trent Green were the honorary chairmen, and Ken Eidson served as the chairman of Phoenix Family’s 11th Annual Event, “Back To The Future.” The sold-out May 1st event was held at the Kansas City Convention Center. Jeanette Prenger was honored with the 2014 Clifton R. Cohn Distinguished Community Leader Award. Proceeds support Phoenix Family’s care for Our Town’s most vulnerable seniors, adults and children.

Spring Luncheon

The Lyric Opera Circle 
The InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza was the setting for The Lyric Opera Circle’s Spring Luncheon on May 7th. Members enjoyed a lovely afternoon, featuring the passing of the gavel to the incoming president and the announcement of the new board members. A special 25-year membership pin was presented to Maureen Durwood.
