On May 15th, Milburn Country Club’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was celebrated by members and representatives from A. L. Huber, Zimmer and Helix Architecture & Design. In 2013, MCC celebrates its 96th year in Overland Park.

WIN for KC

Match Point
The WIN for KC Youth Advisory Board attended a tennis clinic coached by Scott Hanover on April 14th at the Plaza Tennis Center. The girls learned the basic rules of tennis and how to control the ball. The Youth Advisory Board meets about once a month around Town to stay fit and healthy.

Bloom Speaks Easy

Roaring Twenties
April 12th was the date for the Kansas City CARE Clinic’s Bloom Speaks Easy in the West Bottoms. Amy McAnarney and David Hunt were the honorary chairmen, and Kate McKinney, Kurt Knapstein and Emily and Matt Baldwin were the co-chairmen. Guests donned their best 1920’s attire and knocked on a secret door to step back in time. The event featured fabulous fare from Delish! and entertainment from Mark Lowrey and the New Jazz Order Big Band.

Great Plains SPCA’s Pawtini

Pawtini Party
“Vegas Vacation” was the theme of the Great Plains SPCA’s Pawtini. Kevin Westrope, Jason Holmes, Julie Nelson Meers and Sam Meers were the honorary co-chairmen. The event was held on April 6th at Sporting Kansas City and guests enjoyed cocktails, delicious food stations and silent and live auctions. Proceeds benefited needy pets.

Dancing with the Kansas City Stars

Just Dance
March 9th was the date for Cristo Rey Kansas City’s Dancing with the Kansas City Stars at Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center. Lisa Shadid and Mary Ann Woodward were the co-chairmen. Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and a dance competition. Tony Richardson received first place, Jane Gard was the first runner-up and Connie Fahey was the second runner-up. Heather Bortnick, Mayor Sly James and Ed Holland served as special guests judges.
