April 4th was the date for CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties’ Promise of Hope Luncheon at the Ritz Charles. Michelle Privette shared her story of how her Court Appointed Special Advocate, Columbus Heard; helped her to change her life. Lenore Hammer received the 2013 Promise of Hope Award.

Project 39

The Happiest Hour
Project 39’s The Mother of All Happy Hours will be held on May 9th. More than 40 women will host the happy hour to benefit single mothers who participate in The Family Conservancy’s Healthy Parents, Healthy Kids program. Lisa Foley hosted a meeting on April 4th to finalize plans for the event.

Spring Song

Charles Bruffy & The Kansas City Chorale
The first annual Spring Song concert was held on March 30th in Rozzelle Court at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Charles Bruffy and The Kansas City Chorale performed a program which featured selection’s from the Chorale’s Grammy-winning album, Life and Breath. The concert was repeated on April 6th at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis.

The Future of Fiber
March 19th was the date for The Kansas City Art Institute’s Open House at The Warehouse. Guests enjoyed tours of the fabulous new space that houses the fiber program at KCAI.

Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet

Kansas City Tip-Off
March 9th was the date for the Kansas City’s Medicine Cabinet’s 2013 Kansas City Tip-Off. The event was held at the Uptown Theater and featured Scotty McCreery, American Idol winner. Gretchen and Hans Gold and Marsha and Joel Voran were the honorary co-chairmen.
