Dr. Ron Slepitza, Avila University; appeared on The View on February 6th and surprised the Sterling family of Blue Springs, Missouri, with $500,000 in scholarships for their seven children. Lauren and Scott Sterling recently adopted five Peruvian orphans, and the money will ensure that the children receive an American education and bright futures.

Art for the Children Auction and Gala

Helping Hands
February 9th was the date for the Medical Missions Foundation’s 17th Annual Art for the Children Auction and Gala at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Guests enjoyed an auction, dinner and entertainment by the Karen Davis Project. Susan and Dr. Doug Girod were the chairmen. Proceeds provide medical and surgical care to thousands of indigent children in developing countries through Medical Missions Foundation.

A Fete to Remember

KVC Gala

Studio Dan Meiners was the location for the KVC Gala. Guests enjoyed a brand new experience with cocktails, delicious fare, dancing to the tunes of The Good Foot, and a spectacular auction. Kama Moseley and Diane Ball Wilkerson were the co-chairmen. Proceeds supported medical and behavioral health care, social services and education for children and families in Our Town.

Girls’ Night In

Healthy Hearts
The eighth annual Girls’ Night In was held on February 19th at Portfolio Kitchen & Home. Marilyn Breidenthal served as the chairman. Guests enjoyed heart-healthy bites from four top restaurant chefs. Anne Byrn, celebrity cookbook author; was the featured guest. Proceeds supported programs at The University of Kansas Hospital’s Adelaide C. Ward Women’s Heart Health Center, including A Change of Heart.
