Welcome House – Fourth Annual Breakfast

More than 800 supporters of the Welcome House attended the Fourth Annual Breakfast at the Overland Park Convention Center on May 11th. A coveted round of golf with longtime supporter Tom Watson led the auction offerings.

Rick Fleenor claimed a winning ticket.

The National World War I Museum and Memorial – Steel Beam Signing Ceremony

The National World War I Museum and Memorial held a Steel Beam Signing Ceremony on May 3rd to commemorate construction of the new Wylie Gallery. More than $5 million has been raised for a new gallery space as the result of the Museum’s ongoing “Call to Duty” Centennial Capital Campaign. The Jack F. and Glenna Y. Wylie Charitable Foundation provided the $1 million lead gift.

Literacy KC – 23rd Annual Spelling Bee

April 28th was the date for Literacy KC’s 23rd annual Spelling Bee at UMKC’s Pierson Auditorium. Gillian Helm, Literacy KC; served as the chairman of the evening that featured an appearance by Vanya Shivashankar, 2015 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee co-champion; “Bee Stinger” cocktails, student testimonials and live and silent auctions. The event co-champions were the members of the teams representing EPR Properties and Euronet Worldwide.

March of Dimes – March for Babies

March of Dimes’ Greater Kansas City’s March for Babies was held in the Kansas City Power & Light District. More than 10,000 people attended the May 7th event.

Team Captain Deb Stockwell and her daughter posed with a sign in honor of her son, who was a NICU graduate 27 years ago.

Children, ages one to 10, enjoyed participating in the Superhero Sprint, a kids “fun run.
