Dining in the Dark

February 26th was the date for Alphapointe’s┬áDining in the Dark at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. More than 240 guests dined in complete darkness and were served by visually impaired waiters. Proceeds support Alphapointe’s comprehensive rehabilitation program and low vision clinic.

Bristol Seafood Grill

Digging In The Garden
Bristol Seafood Grill presented an Earth Month gift to Broadmoor Technical Center on April 16th. Broadmoor is a nationally-recognized culinary arts education program managed by the Shawnee Mission School District. The funds will be used to prepare the Center’s urban farm for the spring planting season and aid in the maintenance of the land.

Lasting Change
The lovely home of Laurie and Don Montague was the perfect setting for an event for Children International. Internationally-acclaimed opera singer James Valenti was the featured guest. Children International’s mission is to bring real and lasting change to children living in poverty.

46th Symphony Designers’ Showhouse

Divine Design Connection
The Kansas City Symphony Alliance will host the 46th Symphony Designers’ Showhouse from May 9th through June 7th at 96 Janssen Place in historic Hyde Park. Kami Toben is the chairman of the Divine Design Connection event that will be held on May 19th in the Showhouse tent.

National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial

Important Visit
Kim Beazley, Ambassador of Australia to the United States, visited the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial for a pair of events in March. Ambassador Beazley visited Our Town in conjunction with the July 2015 debut of a new special exhibition at the Museum, A Centenary of Australian War Art. The Museum hosted a reception in his honor on March 10th, followed by a luncheon on March 11th, where he delivered an address to leaders from the Kansas City region.
