40 Years Of CaringĀ 
CAPA’s 40 year commitment to the safety and well-being of children and families in Eastern Jackson County was recently celebrated by 250 guests. Brad Speaks served as the emcee. The Dawn Beye Legacy Award was presented to the members of the Junior Service League of Independence for founding CAPA in 1975.

Big Slick Celebrity Weekend

Children’s Mercy Hospital’s fifth annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend was held June 19th and 20th. Hosts Paul Rudd, Rob Riggle, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet, and David Koechner were joined by their celebrity friends for three special events, including a Celebrity Softball Game at Kauffman Stadium, the Big Slick Celebrity Bowl at Pinstripes and the Big Slick Party and Auction at The Midland Theatre.

Jewel Ball Party
Call the cops! Gangsters and molls raided and kidnapped the nine Jewel Ball hosts at their Gatsby-themed Jewel Ball party. The G-men thankfully arrived to rescue them and put an end to their capture! This creative surprise was part of a fun-filled evening, complete with gambling, music and delectables. Kim Fryer, Ashley Herring, Carolina Mach, Alex Maday, Morgan Peterson, Lindley Savage, Lilly Schaffer, Emma Sterbenz, and Morgan Twibell served as the hosts.

Kansas City Young Matrons

Home Sweet Home
The Kansas City Young Matrons’ Last Call Open House and Reception was held on June 12th. Members came to say “farewell” to their beloved clubhouse at 51st and Oak. The clubhouse, built in 1936, will be picked up and moved to its new location at 52nd and Cherry in August. Guests took a nostalgic stroll through the building and shared fond memories. The new clubhouse and expansion will open in the spring of 2016.
