Rhapsody in Blue
The Symphony League’s Symphony Ball, “Rhapsody in Blue,” will be held on September 12th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Joan Horan is the honorary chairman, and Elaine Mann and Annette Sherrow are serving as co-chairmen. Steering committee members gathered recently to make special plans for the event.

Cocktail Reception
The Kansas City Ballet Patrons Society celebrated the end of a very successful 2014-15 performance season with a Cocktail Reception on May 21st at Pennway Place. Guests honored Jill Marlow, who retired from her dance career, and celebrated The Ballet’s five extraordinary productions: Alice (in Wonderland), the final production of Todd Bolender’s The Nutcracker, New Moves, Giselle, and Dances Daring (Then and Now).

Annual Dinner and Joan Berkley Symposium

Making An Impact
More than 500 guests enjoyed The Center for Practical Bioethics’ Annual Dinner and Joan Berkley Symposium on April 30th and May 1st . The theme of this year’s event was “Healing What Hurts: The Politics of Pain.” The under-treatment of pain, which affects 100 million Americans, has been a focus of the Center’s work since its founding in 1984.

Jody Tillotson’s beautiful home was the perfect setting for a Cocktail Buffet, where guests enjoyed delicious fare and a special program featuring Dr. Marilyn Rymer, vice president of neurosciences at The University of Kansas Hospital; and Dr. Jeff Burns, the Edward H. Hashinger Professor of Neurology at The University of Kansas Medical Center.

27th Annual Ball 
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 27th Annual Ball, Savor The Moment – A Taste of New Beginnings, was held on April 25th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Kathy and Jim Polsinelli served as the chairmen. Proceeds support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
