Spotlight on Centurions – Jessica Nelson

Jessica Nelson is a member of Centurions, class of 2018. She is a Kansas City native, who graduated from The University of Kansas with a bachelor of science degree in journalism. Jessica careers as managing director at TeamKC: Life+Talent at the Kansas City Area Development Council. Right now, Jessica is counting down the days until her wedding to Eric Palm. (They’re getting married on September 3rd.

Spotlight on Centurions – Amanda Middaugh

Amanda Middaugh is manager of corporate and special events fundraising at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre. Her responsibilities include leading the fundraising and event planning efforts for KCRep’s annual gala, A Fearless Fête. Amanda graduated from Drury University with degrees in art history and fine arts. She is a member of the Centurions, class of 2018. This past year, Amanda served on the Legacy Project committee for Turn the Page KC and the Poverty Task Force.

Name Dropping – Symphony Ball “An Evening in Vienna”

Anne and Howard Elsberry will serve as honorary chairmen of the Symphony Ball, which will be held on September 9th. Both the Elsberrys grew up in Moberly, Missouri. They are graduates of Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville. After graduation, Howard pursued a career in retailing for a few years prior to joining the family business, Westlake Hardware.

Name Dropping – Create the Night…Through the Eyes of Picasso

Christy and Bill Gautreaux will be serving as the honorary chairmen for the Committee of 100’s black-tie gala, Create the Night…Through the Eyes of Picasso, on October 14th at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Guests will have an opportunity to see this internationally-renowned exhibition, which presents how non-western art influenced the work of Picasso. The Museum will be the only venue in the United States to feature this exhibit before it heads to Montreal.

Spotlight on Centurions – Austin Bickford

Austin Bickford is a member of Centurions, class of 2017. He is co-chairman of the Wild Card Task Force. Austin is a board member of Children’s Mercy’s Mercy Ambassadors Auxiliary. He was a Japanese major at The University of Kansas, and his favorite sports team is the Tottenham Hotspur, an English Premier League Football team.
