Jeanette Prenger will receive the 2014 Clifton R. Cohn Distinguished Community Leader Award for her exemplary record of accomplishments and for bettering the Kansas City community. Brian Hayhow can always be counted on to lend a helping hand at Children’s Mercy Hospitals & Clinics. Brian volunteers with patients on a weekly basis and is a former Volunteer of the Month award recipient. He is a founding member and chairman of the new Mercy Ambassadors Auxiliary.

A native of Our Town, Aaron Link is a graduate of Rockhurst High School. He is a project manager for Perceptive Software’s public sector clients. Aaron serves on the Centurion Task Force where he has worked with KinderKC and Operation Breakthrough. The Centurions program has taught Aaron about the many facets of Our Town and how various elements intertwine to create the fabric of our community.

June 28th is the date for Boots & Bow Ties, a benefit celebrating 35 years of The Coterie Theatre. Guests will boot scoot onto the Crown Center Square and enjoy cocktails, dinner and a country cabaret. Johyne Hamra is serving as the chairman, and Beth Ingram, Laurie and Chip Ingram and Jill Ingram Reynolds are the honorary co-chairmen.
The Salvation Army is pleased to announce that former First Lady Mrs. George W. Bush will be the keynote speaker at its 2014 Civic Luncheon. A member of The Salvation Army’s National Advisory Board, Mrs. Bush has championed key issues in the fields of education, health care and human rights.
