Powell Gardens is grateful to have Betty Boyd as such a dedicated and caring volunteer. Within the last year, she has contributed almost 500 hours of service at fundraisers, special events, selling memberships, and working in the Gardens a few days each week. Betty loves the caring dedication of the staff and volunteers. She appreciates nature’s beauty and tranquility while working in the Gardens.

Be daring at the 2014 Lyric Opera Ball, presented by the Lyric Opera Circle, to be held on April 12th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Auction Co-chairmen Kimberlee Ried and Karen Yungmeyer and their committee have garnered lots of fabulous auction items, sure to please Our Town’s Bond-lovers.

Wil Haygood will be the featured speaker at The Truman Library Institute’s 15th annual Wild About Harry to be held on April 10th at the Muehlebach Tower of the Kansas City Marriott Downtown. Wil is an award-winning journalist for The Washington Post, and best-selling author of The Butler; A Witness to History. Dr. Donna Shalala will receive the Harry S. Truman Legacy of Leadership Award.
For more than 20 years, Jan and Dave Knopke have been loyal supporters of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. They have served on numerous boards, committees and initiatives. Jan and Dave have been instrumental in the success of the annual Snow Ball, with Dave recently ending his 12 year role as the patron committee chairman. Thank you, Jan and Dave, your kindness and leadership has made a difference in the lives of so many in Our Town.
Renee Flowers is the executive director of Higher M-Pact, a non profit founded by her husband, Tyrone J. Flowers. The organization is dedicated to transforming the lives of high risk urban youth and communities. Renee is a member of the Centurions Class of 2015 and serves on the communications committee. She also serves on the advisory boards for Awesome Ambitions and House of Hope – Kansas City.
