Saint Luke’s Foundation’s Paint the Town will be a lively South American fete on September 21st at the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza. The event will be held poolside and overlook the Plaza Art Fair for the fifth year. Brazil Academy members will perform and guests will enjoy three bands during the evening, beginning with Bossa Nova, followed by Brazilian jazz and ending with a Samba ensemble.
Tour Our Town
Renovation Sensation, a benefit for the SHARE program at Shawnee Mission East, will be held on September 18th. Tourgoers will view four beautifully-renovated homes. Sheryl Kaplan and Deb Schneider are the Tour co-chairmen, and a Patrons’ Party will be held the evening prior at the home of Lynn and Joe Poskin.
Dedication and compassion are words often used to describe Komen Kansas City volunteer and Early Childhood Special Education teacher Jenn Hull. For eight years, Jenn has been a committee member for Komen Kansas City Race for the Cure and has chaired the areas of Survivor Recognition and Kids for the Cure. Jenn is currently serving as co-chairman for the 20th Annual Susan G. Komen Kansas City Race for the Cure.
Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care volunteer extraordinaire, Brent Thompson, has been the coordinator of the FHC Men’s Group and co-chairman, host committee member and volunteer coordinator for Tacos and Beer on the Boulevard. Brent has recruited dozens of additional volunteers to serve the clinic as well. Thank you, Brent, for your extraordinary loyalty to Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care.
Celebration Awards Luncheon
On August 16th, The Whole Person’s Celebration Awards Luncheon will be held at The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. Michael Hingson, best-selling author; is the featured speaker. Joseph Matovu will receive The Paul H. Levy Founders Award, Centric Projects and 360 Architecture will receive Corporate Awards, David Jones will receive the Individual Award, and Governor Jay Nixon will receive the Civic Leader Award.
