Dr. Jim Maliszewski
The children at Spofford have greatly benefited from the kindness of Dr. Jim Maliszewski. Dr. Mal, as the kids call him, started The Spofford Breakfast Club, which brings colleagues and family members together to serve up a pancake breakfast for the children. He also organizes many events for the children including sending them to the theater, sports games and concerts.

KCAI names Nicolle Ratliff VP for Advancement

Congratulations Nicolle!

Congratulations to Nicolle Ratliff for being appointed vice president for advancement for the Kansas City Art Institute. Nicolle was previously the development director at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, where she created the advisory council which plays an essential role in increasing donor involvement and enthusiasm. Prior to joining the Kemper, Nicolle was the manager of individual giving at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

A wonderful BOTAR tradition, Tablescapes, will return to Our Town on September 18th and 19th. The September 19th luncheon has already sold-out and tickets to the September 18th Preview Party are still available. The 2012 Tablescapeswill feature 40 fabulous designers who will create 40 different tablescapes at the American Royal’s Grand Hall.

Newhouse Volunteers

A Day in the Garden

On September 19th, a group of volunteers visited Newhouse Shelter to planet beautiful fall mums and plants. Newhouse provides safety, hope and strength to abused women and children. Thank you, volunteers, for giving back to Our Town!
