Kristen Leigh Briggs and Stephen Douglas Steele were married on August 3rd at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver, Colorado. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Briggs of Olathe. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fenwick of Larned, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Peters of Larned, Kansas, and Mrs. Kenneth Briggs of Independence, Missouri, and the late Mr. Briggs. Her groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Steele of Phoenix, Arizona.
Leigh Lawrence Gray is the new girl in Town! The blue-eyed, dark blonde-haired beauty was born on December 9th to Courtney Lawrence Gray and Brett William Gray of Prairie Village. Leigh came into this world weighing seven pounds and four ounces. Her older brother, Patrick William Gray, just turned three. The little darlings are the grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wilson Lawrence of Our Town and Mr. and Mrs. William Gerald Gray of Gardner, Kansas.
Carolyn Jemelka Price of Our Town and Dr. Richard Brooke Price, Jr., of Our Town are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Marie Price, to Nathan John Peterson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Joseph Peterson, of Norman, Oklahoma. Rachel is a graduate of The Pembroke Hill School. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma, and a juris doctor from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Maigan and Hayes Thompson of Nashville, Tennessee, welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Charlotte Opal Thompson, on September 9th. She weighed seven pounds, five ounces, and was 21 inches long. Charlotte has blue eyes and brown hair. Her delighted grandparents are Barb and Webster Thompson of Our Town and Diane and Ron Shanks of Delano, Tennessee. Charlotte’s great-grandparents are Prudence Thompson of Overland Park, the late Mr. Hoyt Thompson, Mrs. Albert Watkins, Jr.

Lisa advises that it is important to make sure that everyone involved with an event has a clear understanding of the budget very early in the planning process. She says that it is also critical to determine if the budget is realistic.

Mary Lynn Coulson and Zachary John Schwalbach were married on December 28th at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard S. Coulson of Leawood. Her groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schwalbach, of Hudson, Wisconsin. The evening prior, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grünauer. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a beautiful reception at Mission Hills Country Club.

Michaela and Patrick A. Pearce, Jr., held a “Mustache Bash” for their son, Patrick Michael Pearce, to celebrate his first birthday on January 10th. The active little boy enjoys playing with toy balls, and his father, who is a KU graduate and passionate Jayhawk’s fan, hopes that Patrick will play basketball someday for The University of Kansas. Patrick loves meatballs, and enjoys roughhousing with his friends at Premier Learning.
Tails of Our Town
Megan Hannahan and Austin Pickett adopted Pop Tart from Great Plains SPCA, and she has quickly settled into her new home. Pop Tart is a three month old American Bulldog mix, a true puppy who plays and sleeps as much as she can.
A beautiful baby girl named Clara Jane Cusser arrived on October 21st. She weighed six pounds, nine ounces and was 20 and one half inches long. Clara has blue eyes and brown hair. Her proud parents are Anne and Andrew Cusser of Leawood. Clara’s thrilled grandparents are M.J. and Larry Walden of Leawood and Diana and Jim Cusser of Our Town.
Stacy Ann Porto and Lawrence Douglas Bernabe, Jr., were married on November 9th at St. Francis Xavier Church. The bride is the daughter of Mary Porto of Leawood, and the late Dr. Anthony F. Porto, Jr. Her groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Douglas Bernabe, Sr., of Chesterfield, Missouri. The wedding weekend kicked off with a welcome barbecue in Downtown Kansas City. The evening prior, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Grand Street Cafe.
