The Village

Mystery Wine Walk

The Village is hosting a special wine tasting night, Mystery Wine Walk, on September 15th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  A number of  stores will be offering guests the chance to test their knowledge by identifying the different wines.  Participating stores include Brookside Optical, Euston Hardware, Clique, Mady & Me, Spanglers, Tulip, and Village Dentist.  Stop by any time to see if your taste buds can stand up to the challenge.  Proceeds from the evening will benefit Gilda’s Club of KayCee.


Prairie Village

A Night of Jazz

It’s time for the 2nd Annual Prairie Village Jazz Festival!  Open your ears for a wonderful night of music featuring Our Town’s best jazz bands. The performances will be on Saturday, September 10th at Harmon Park. The festival will start at 2 p.m., with bands playing until 10 p.m. For a full line-up of jazz bands that will be performing or any other information, visit www.prairievillagejazz.org. Grab a blanket or your best outdoor chair and get ready for a night of great music and entertainment.

KC Beerfest at the Legends

Tickets are going on sale September 1st for the 5th Annual KC Beerfest!  Along with more than 100 varieties of beer, the festival will also feature food, live music and more. Tickets are $30 in advance, but only $10 for designated drivers (who also get to enjoy their own special tent with free water and soda and massages!)  All of the proceeds from the event will benefit Kansas City Free Health Clinic and the AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City.  For more information, visit www.kcbeerfest.com.


Her Majesty’s Closet

Fashion’s Night Out Coming to Prairie Village

Calling all fashionistas! Fashion’s Night Out, the fabulous after-hours shopping extravaganza, will be celebrated all over the world on September 8th to kick off New  York Fashion Week!  One of the many local stores opening its doors for a night of shopping and fashion is Her Majesty’s Closet, in Prairie Village.  The fun begins at 5:30 p.m., with a runway show at 6 p.m.!  Hors d’oeuvres and refreshements will be served, but get your reservations soon because space is limited!  Her Majesty’s Closet will be accepting items of clothing to be donated to “Dress for Success,” an organization helping women dress professionally and get back in the workforce.  For more information, go to www.hermajestysclosetltd.com.


KU KickOff

Jayhawks at Johnny’s Tavern

Tonight is the 6th annual KU KickOff rally at Johnny’s Tavern in Corinth Square!  Head to Johnny’s between 6 and 10 pm to hear from basketball coach Bill Self and football coach Turner Gill and join in the festivities with the KU Alumni Association and the Kansas Athletics Department.  There will be lots of activities for kids, and live music from KC All Stars.  Don’t miss this end-of-summer tradition!  For more information, call 816-897-8445 or contact jmaxwell@kualumni.org.
