Kiss & Tail

Looking for something different to do this Valentine’s? Head to the Kansas City Zoo on Saturday, February 4th for Kiss & Tail. Learn about all the special ways animals show love; some are sure to have you laughing out loud! Along with the “romantic” presentation, enjoy entertainment from DJ Steve Serrano, cocktails, appetizers, games, a raffle, and more. Nature is Waiting For You

Sick of sitting inside on low-key weekend days? The seasonal hikes offered at Powell Gardens every Sunday starting January 15th is a great way to get outdoors and explore nature! Alan Branhagen, Powell Gardens’ director of horticulture and naturalist, will lead the hikes every Sunday afternoon on the 3.25-mile Byron Shutz Nature Trail. Get out and get some fresh air on the hike which is offered through February, March and April, with each hike focusing on the highlights of the season. Happy Zoo Year

With winter break, holidays and weekends, keeping your kids occupied while at work is a constant challenge. The Kansas City Zoo has a solution: Safari Day Camp. Kids will love this fun and educational event and all you have to do is simply drop them off at the zoo! The next scheduled Safari Day Camp is Polar-Palooza on January 16th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This purrfect day will be chalk-full of exciting activities that your kids aged kindergarten to sixth grade will love. Winter Conservatory Exhibit

A quaint and relaxing break from your busy schedule is right under your nose at Powell Gardens. Visit the Feather Your Nest Conservatory Exhibit and enjoy the winter scenery from a warm vantage point. Local designers from The Webster House, Retro Inferno and Pear Tree Antiques will create a variety of exquisite indoor garden “rooms”.  The spaces will include benches, chairs and other seating to accommodate at least four people at a time. Bring friends and family to sit and enjoy hot beverages and watch birds while you let your imagination thrive in this lovely environment. The exhibit opens January 15 and runs through March 6. Flip for Flapjacks!

Looking for some family fun this weekend?
